Arthur M. Verses, 81, Retired Local Business Owner

Arthur M. Verses of Stamford, CT, 81, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on the morning of June 15, 2013 at Stamford Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1931 in Stamford, CT to the late Michael and Virginia Verses and was one of fourteen children. Arthur attended Stamford High School and went on to obtain his plumbing contractor's license in 1961. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant and was stationed in Korea from 1953-1954.He and his now deceased brother 

Paul Verses started Verses Brothers Plumbing Co. in 1961 and went on to have a successful business in Fairfield County over the next 30 plus years. Arthur married his lovely wife Joanne in 1983 and are both longtime residents of Stamford.

Arthur is survived by his beloved wife Joanne Verses and their children Niko (Mary Denise) and Socrates (Judy) Verses, John Scuderi and Karen Hart (Peter). He also leaves behind his sister Sophie Copley and nine wonderful and adoring grandchildren - Jason, Liam, Zac, Alexa, Heather, Jonathan, Mallory, Emma and Ryan along with many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him terribly. 

Arthur touched so many lives both personally and professionally. He had a kind and generous heart and a great sense of humor that was complimented by an infectious smile and contagious laugh. Arthur was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it and was a contributor to St. Basil's Academy in Garrison NY for many years. There was nothing Arthur loved more

than to spend time with his nine grandchildren, four children and his loving wife Joanne. 

The family will receive friends at Leo P. Gallagher & Sons Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford CT on Monday, June 17th from 4:00-8:00 pm. A private service will be held on June 18th.
