New in Town: Psychic Fiction

Why are there so many psychic fairs in Connecticut?

Well here’s something I didn’t know about Connecticut before we moved here: apparently there’s a psychic fair season!

There are no fewer than four scheduled in the coming weeks, including one for pets. ("Bring a photo, not your pet!" the ad says. I can see why. I mean, does a dog even have a palm?)

I don’t know if these fairs are like other regional fairs, but I don’t think it would be smart to spend any money at the "Guess Your Weight" booth.

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking this post is going to contain a bunch of one liners like: "I went to the snack bar at the psychic fair. The guy said ‘What’ll you have?’ I said ‘You tell me.’"

If that was what you were thinking, then I read your mind! I’m going to get myself a booth at the fair! It will be right after the tarot reader and the astrology reader and the tea leaf reader. Except I’ll use a Kindle! Seriously. I can see the sign now: "I Can Download Your Thoughts! $25." It’s time to bring this psychic stuff into the 21st Century.

It’s not that I don’t believe that some people may have abilities I don’t understand (like ballroom dancing, for instance. Either doing it or watching it). I believe in psychic abilities, I just don’t believe in psychic fairs. Come on: if you could really read people’s minds, wouldn’t you have something better to do than spending an entire Saturday at the Milford HoJo? Surely you could find more interesting reading material than the minds of people who would pay to attend a psychic fair!

Now, if you believe in paranormal phenomenon, I’m probably offending you. (There! I read your mind again!) If so, please feel free to leave a nasty comment. As I’m sure you already know, I’ll read it and snicker.
