First County Bank Foundation Provides Grant for Stamford Seniors

Senior Services of Stamford has received a $10,000 medical transportation grant from the First County Bank Foundation.  This grant allows Senior Services of Stamford to continue its door-to-door service for elderly clients to attend their medical and dental appointments.

In our aging society, the issues of transportation and mobility continue to increase, and even in Stamford where public transportation options are available, some older adults experience barriers to utilizing these services.  Since 2008 the Senior Services of Stamford Medical Transportation Program has enabled Stamford seniors to attend their medical and dental appointments in situations where they may otherwise be unable without added assistance.  The program serves 600 clients each year, many of which are homebound or too frail to make use of public transportation to their Stamford medical and dental appointments.
