STATE SET TO APPROVE CANOPY FUNDING FOR STAMFORD’S GLENBROOK STATION

Stamford State Reps. Gerald Fox III and Dan Fox announced the state Bond Commission is expected to approve funding toward construction of a canopy shelter at the Glenbrook train station.

Stamford State Representatives Gerald Fox III (D-146) and Dan Fox (D-148) announced that the state Bond Commission is expected to approve funding toward construction of a canopy shelter along the platform at the Glenbrook train station.

“Glenbrook station is an important hub of our community that not only serves commuters but welcomes visitors and business people,” said Rep. Gerald Fox III, a member of the Legislature’s Transportation Committee, who also secured funding in previous years for the Springdale Station canopy. “This project will help provide a more safe and comfortable environment for riders, which translate into more people using the trains.”

When the Commission meets next week, $1.6 million for the project will be on the agenda. A previous similar allocation of $1,637,000 will cover the balance of the total cost of construction which is estimated at just over $3.2 million.

“I am pleased the State Bond Commission is prepared to approve this $1.6 million bond request for Stamford,” said Rep. Dan Fox, whose district includes Glenbrook. “The funds will make a significant and positive impact on the daily lives of numerous members of our community who frequent the Glenbrook train station and the canopy will compliment the hard work being done by the Glenbrook Neighborhood Association and numerous Glenbrook businesses and residents working to improve the quality of life for our neighbors.”
