Stamford Hospital Invites Families to Safety Fair

According to the American Trauma Society, car crashes, drowning, poisoning, fires and falls are some of the most common ways children are hurt or killed. In recognition of National Trauma Awareness Month, Stamford Hospital will host a Safety Fair on Saturday, May 4, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at the Tully Health Center, 32 Strawberry Hill Court, Stamford. Attendees will learn about smart choices and safe habits through hands-on exhibits.

The free program, open to the public, will cater to kids and adults of all ages. Community and state exhibitors will provide information on topics such as: bicycle, car and car seat safety, child safety, disaster preparedness, elderly safety, fall and fire safety and prevention, medication safety, pedestrian safety and sports and swimming safety.

Information about injury prevention will be distributed by a number of organizations, including: Stamford Hospital, CT Department of Transportation, CT State Police, Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC), Fire Safety & Rescue, Lower Fairfield County Regional Action Council, (LFCRAC), SAFEKIDS Fairfield County and Stamford Emergency Medical Services (SEMS).

In addition, several screenings will be offered onsite, including: blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, pulmonary function tests, vision and balance. Kids can enjoy exploring an ambulance and fire truck as well as coloring books, temporary tattoos and face painting.
