Darien Field Hockey Players Raise Funds for Stamford Hospital's Breast Center

Darien field hockey players presented Dr. David Gruen, Stamford Hospital’s Director of Women’s Imaging and Co-Director of the Women’s Breast Center, with $5,717.34, a portion of the proceeds raised from the annual “Play for the Cure” week, October 6-13, 2012, which raises awareness for screening and early detection of breast cancer. Over 1,000 youth and high school field hockey players from Fairfield County donned pink shirts and ribbons and participated in bake sales, shirt sales and other events to raise funds for area cancer centers. During the course of the week, over $13,000 was raised.
