What's Hot in Fitness 2012 [Video]

Fitness 2012 - TRX, Rip Trainer and the Sandbag!

Every year we hear about the hottest Fitness trends that we can expect to see in almost every club/gym/personal training studio but the one's you won't find anywhere else but Stamford's very own Core are these; TRX, the Rip Trainer and the Sandbags.

TRX craze!

The recent fitness craze has been over this little device called the TRX. It has been featured in Men’s Health magazine, has been on the “Biggest Loser” and most recently has been mentioned in the Wall Street Journal as a workout that’s easy on the joints.  It has been referred to as a “gym in a bag” because it is portable andyou can attach it to almost anything (that’s stable and structurally sound). The TRX was invented by Randy Hetrick (a former US navy seal and founder/CEO of TRX Training) when he saw the need to make a portable, small, light-weight fitness tool that could enable you to work out your entire body in a tight space,
virtually anywhere.

The TRX is the simplest piece of exercise equipment to enter the fitness world. All it requires is a stable anchor point and a willing body. The concept behind the TRX is core involvement, my favorite word.  A visual description of the TRX would read like this: a non-elastic strap that has two handles and hangs from one single anchor point. There are three positions you can train your body when using the TRX system (supine, prone and transverse). Whichever position you are training in, your core is consistently engaged. That’s the true beauty of the TRX.  Now that does not mean you won't get a heart pounding, strength building workout when using the TRX.  If you are someone just returning to fitness or an athlete the TRX has proven itself to be a great workout.

Rip It Up!

You will see a new piece of equipment in our studio called the The Rip Trainer.  Now don't be afraid of this new fitness tool, it is designed to challenge your bodies in an asymmetrical way which adds a new component into functional training. Invented by Pete Holman, a three-time Tae Kwon Do US national champion and graduated from the University of Colorado Physical Therapy School at the Health and Sciences Center, who discovered the benefits of training in a three-dimensional space which is exactly what the Rip Trainer does. "The Rip Trainer creates unbalanced tension. You have to stabilize your posture, which mimics what we do in everyday life. Training in 3-D strengthens the core, increases sports performance and reduces risk of injury,” stated Holman in an article written about him in Aspen Peak online news.

The Rip Trainer will provide you with a workout you never have experience before.  And all it takes is just 30 minutes to feel the effects and the power behind this new little device.

Challenge for all man kind!

Now for all you men out there, there is a new way of training which is called the "Ultimate Sandbag Training".  Josh Henkin, fitness expert and inventor of the Ultimate Sandbag Training System, was a Division 1A athlete with a problem. Low back pain.  Josh had discovered this amazing exercise system that made him more flexible, stronger and relieved his back pain.  Josh created a bag that consists of multiple hand grips to perform various exercises with and allows the bag to be filled with anywhere from 20-180 pounds of sand.  By using the bag and going through what may seem like basic exercises your total body is getting a workout which is the main principal behind this new invention.

This is definitely a challenge for the men but there's no reason why us women can't join in on the fun.
