Stamford Police Donate Turkeys to Food Bank for Thanksgiving

Stamford police officers took the time Monday morning to give back to the community they protect by donating 42 turkeys to the Fairfield County Food Bank just in time for Thanksgiving.

"It's very important for us to give back to the Stamford community," said Officer Todd Lobraico, president of the Stamford Police Association. "We've been doing this for about five years, and it's very important that we continued this tradition."

Lobraico said officers donate to the Association weekly in preparation for the various drives they participate in, Monday's included. He said the bank was dramatically short on turkeys this year, down by approximately 100 birds for what they what they'd need this time of year.

"Every little bit helps," Lobraico said. "We wish we could donate all 100 they were short. This effort means a great deal to us. A lot of times the community sees us on the other end. We want to show people we're not always the bad guys."
