Stamford Man Wins $1M Lottery, Stamford Store Rewarded

Stamford resident Adil Nagiev has got a reason to smile Thursday. He's got one million of them, actually.

Nagiev matched a winning symbol on a Connecticut Lottery "$1,000,000 Jackpot" ticket that turned his ticket into an instant $1,000,000 top prize winner

Nagiev made the purchase at For Your Convenience, located at 135 Prospect Street. Parish Patel, the store's owner, was ecstatic when he learned from lottery officials that his store sold a $1,000,000 prize winning ticket.

"I finally got a $1,000,000 winner," said Patel, who's store receives a $10,000 bonus check from the lottery for selling the ticket. "I’m just so blown away. Anytime my customers play lottery, I always tell them, 'Your win is my success.'"

Nagiev opted for a $790,900 cash lump sum prize as opposed to the 20-year annuity payout totaling $1,000,000. Still, that's plenty of reasons to smile.

The overall chances of winning a prize in the $10 instant game $1,000,000 Jackpot are 1 in 3.80. Of the four top prizes in the game, only a single one remains to be claimed.
