Young Mariners Foundation 15th Anniversary Gala

The Young Mariners Foundation will celebrate its 15th Anniversary with a fundraising gala at the Stamford Yacht Club honoring founding board member Skip Raymond.  The evening includes silent and live auctions plus a raffle of a Hobie kayak.  Cocktails, light supper, dessert and coffee will be served.

Connecticut has the largest achievement gap of any state and YMF’s programs help improve the academic performance of low income kids using sailing as a team-oriented, hands-on learning vehicle.   Since 1997, Young Mariners Foundation has helped almost 2,000 middle school children do better in school and in life through after school and summer programs.   Past participants have demonstrated: 

• Increased comprehension in science (45%), math (21%), and social studies (28%);
• Greater confidence and the ability to work as a team with peers and adults;
• Ability to solve problems and explore new ideas and information;
• A respect for themselves and others and the natural environment.
