HIGH RIDGE SHOPPING CENTER GEARS UP FOR A SECOND PET ADOPTION DAY

STAMFORD, CT February 18, 2011 – North Stamford’s High Ridge Shopping Center has partnered with OPIN and the area’s leading pet rescue and adoption organizations to find loving homes for orphaned animals with the second Rescue Pet Adoption Day on March 5, 2011 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the High Ridge Shopping Center in Stamford, Connecticut.

Continuing with its theme of “Looking for Forever Homes”, the Rescue Pet Adoption Day is proudly sponsored by OPIN (Outreach to Pets In Need), Adopt-A-Dog of Greenwich, Friends of Felines, High Ridge Shopping Center, Peter Suchy Jewelers and Hearst Media Services. The goal of the event is to find lifelong, loving homes for dogs and cats from shelters and rescue agencies in the greater Stamford area.

Animals will be available for viewing on March 5.  The public is invited to stop by and meet the loving volunteers that give so much of themselves to support this worthy cause.  These volunteers will be available to answer questions and assist with the application process.  All animals adopted from Rescue Pet Adoption Day will go home free pet services and gifts including:

  • High Ridge Animal Hospital: One free vaccine and wellness check-up
  • Gone to the Dogs: Free One-Hour Training Session and Evaluation

There will also be a blanket drive. OPIN will be accepting donations for blankets, pet beds, dog and cat food, new pet toys and crates to be used for the homeless cats, dogs, puppies and kittens at the shelter and to give to those pet owners who cannot afford to care for their animals.

“The first adoption we held in November was incredibly successful with eight dogs and six cats finding forever homes. We urge local residents to stop by and meet the volunteers and if you can’t adopt, please donate pet beds, food, toys and blankets for these homeless animals,” says Peter Suchy, President of the High Ridge Center Merchants.

The High Ridge Merchants Association would like to extend a special thank you to the Samuel Lotstein Realty Company LLC and Phil Lotstein and family for their generosity in donating the area within the shopping center where the pet adoption event will take place.
