A Salute to Mort Walker--Father of the World's Oldest Army Private, 'Beetle Bailey'

Stamford’s own Mort Walker, creator of the syndicated cartoon strips Beetle Bailey, Hi and Lois, and more, will be honored on May 2nd by the Stamford Historical Society.

Tickets for the gala evening are $95 and can
be purchased by calling 203-329-1183 before
April 23.  A highlight of the evening will be a chance to bid on a collection of specially created, autographed cartoons.

Walker, a winner of the Connecticut Legend Award, was inspired by his stint in the Army in World War II to create an ‘everyman’ private, Beetle Bailey, who has been amusing us with his exploits for more than 60 years now. The strip, the longest-running one in history by the original creatior, is syndicated around the world by King Features.
