Young Women's League of New Canaan's Couture for a Cause Fashion Show

Come welcome spring and spring’s fashions this year with the Young Women’s League of New Canaan!  On Friday, May 4th, 2012 at 7pm at The Loading Dock in Stamford, the YWL  will host COUTURE FOR A CAUSE.  This new fundraising event will include a fashion show, silent auction and dancing at one of the hippest new venues in Stamford. YWL Co Chairs of Couture for a Cause, Amy Fields, Nancy Roeder, Jenn Shulman, and Kristen Wildman all have been working hard to plan what will be a great evening of fashion, fundraising and fun.  The YWL would like to thank the following generous sponsors for this event: Norwalk Hospital, Lyn Evan Potpourri Designs, Caren Forbes, and Camp Playland.  Couture for a Cause will showcase this spring’s fashion trends found at New Canaan retailers such as Lyn Evans Potpourri Designs, Island Outfitters, J McLaughlin, Togs, True Blue, Skirtin Around and Dorothy Mann.  The looks will be modeled by YWL members, New Canaan Newcomers Club members, and even some men!

Proceeds for the event will benefit several YWL deserving charities, Mercy Learning, Person to Person, and The Workplace. Mercy Learning Center provides literacy and life skills instruction and support services to low-income, undereducated women in the city of Bridgeport and its surrounding areas. Person to Person is located in Darien and provides rapid responses to client emergencies.  They support families who lack basic necessities as well as give access to interconnected services that support their clients’ journey toward self-sufficiency.  The Workplace is located in Bridgeport and provides career preparation, job training, employment and supportive services for unemployed and underemployed women throughout Fairfield County.

The Young Women's League of New Canaan is a group of dedicated women who are committed to enriching the community through volunteer service and fundraising efforts. The League's mission is threefold:
