Measles and the 'Relationship' with Autism

http://www2.aap.org/immunization/families/mmr.html

The above article from the American Academy of Pediatrics claims there is no significant link between the MMR (Measles Mumps and Rubella) vaccine and Autism.

Personally, I'm inclined to take their word for it since they are the experts and because it's hard to imagine that many doctors either being wrong or willfully obfuscating the truth, but, then again, it has happened before. So perhaps there may be more to this story than what meets the eye? That's why I've decided to open up this as a discussion between adults who are genuinely interested in a constructive exchange.

There's no shame in having been wrong. The shame is in having the opportunity to correct yourself and passing it by due to a selfish and egotistic need to cling to tradition as a means of preserving some part of your ego. Which, by the way, is not to say I'm insinuating that MMR is a direct cause of Autism, though I do believe we should be able to be honest if we hope to progress, and do what's best for our children.
