Stamford, CT – January 27, 2014-  Loft Artist member
Susan Frey describes her solo exhibition opening in the East Gallery at 575
Pacific Street, Stamford, CT, on view from March 15 to April
13:”A jar of gum tree green acrylic paint and a book of Native
American portraits, were the beginnings of my two and a half year series of
acrylic paintings, drawings and collages that makes up “A Very Wild West Show”
exhibition. “I have visited many parts of the American West in the past
thirty-five years and this vast part of the country is intriguing, with its
beautiful and sometimes austere landscapes. Cowboy and American Indian lore is
full of myth and imagery”.
The Opening Reception will be Saturday,
March 15 from 4 to 7 pm. The Gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to
4:30 pm.

“I have taken artistic
license with the theme and have given it a tweak and a twist.  Many of the canvases include icons and
symbols of the Old West. My images of Native Americans are composites of many of
the tribes throughout the country.  The color palette I
have chosen might not be picture perfect compared to the real New Mexican or
Wyoming landscape. They are appropriate to my fantasies and memories of fabulous
days and nights out West! “
