The Art of Bonsai

To celebrate Arbor Day, the Stamford Museum
& Nature Center and
the Yama Ki Bonsai Society of the Greater New York Area are proud to present
the second annual exhibition: "Art of the Bonsai." The talented
members of Yama Ki will answer questions and explain the process of the ancient
art of bonsai, the meticulous shaping of plants into miniature versions of
trees.

Seventy-five unique bonsai trees will be displayed in the traditional fashion
in the Stamford Museum's
Bendel Gallery and Great Hall.

The event will feature a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony with a demonstration
and lecture on the history of tea on Saturday at 1 pm. Customary Japanese tea and snacks
will be served. A limited number of spaces are available for the tea ceremony;
advance registration is required by calling 203.977.6521.

A hands-on demonstration of bonsai techniques will be held on Sunday at 1 pm, this event is free and open to the
public.
