SPA FOR THE SPIRIT Retreat Morning - Losing Your Faith/Finding Your Soul

All are welcome to this Lenten retreat morning focusing on how we come into an adult faith. Many people find themselves disconnected from the religious traditions they grew up with, and don't know how to reconnect in a way that feels authentic and lively.

David
Robert Anderson, author of Losing Your
Faith, Finding Your Soul: The passage to new life when old beliefs die
,
will speak about the predictable moments in life when conventional faith fails
us, and offer insights from his latest book on how this “fall” can become, in
Augustine’s words, “fortunate.”

Anderson says, "Our
early belief systems have a shelf life of about thirty-five years—for some who
undergo early losses, the conventional form of faith breaks down even sooner.
It’s not possible, then, to make it through life without losing our faith. What
is possible is a fall that catapults us upward into the divine presence, giving
us a whole new way of seeing the world and our place in it, knowing what is true
and real."
