SPA FOR THE SPIRIT - Giving Up Anxiety... For Lent and For Ever!

LEAVE ANXIETY BEHIND –

MARCH 1ST “SPA FOR THE SPIRIT”

Monthly Morning Retreat at Church of Christ the Healer,
Stamford
Reservations here.

The March “Spa for the Spirit,” a
monthly retreat morning at Church of Christ the Healer, will focus on how to
give up anxiety – and learn to be a peace-bearer. Led by  the Rev. Dr. Kate Heichler, participants will examine

how anxiety functions in their own lives, and explore spiritual practices that

shift one from anxiety to serenity, from worry about problems to strategies for

solutions. “Anxiety is a natural human response to uncertainty or challenge,”

says Pastor Heichler. “Left untended it can also become toxic,  even addictive, increasing stress levels,
inflammatory reactions in our bodies (and sometimes in our interactions with
others) and generating higher stress in our communities.” Heichler maintains
that the Christian tradition includes spiritual practices that can change our relationship to worry, and strengthen our core self.

Starting with breakfast at 8:30, this
time of retreat will explore some of those practices and invite participants to
“try them on.” Heichler is Pastor at Church of Christ the Healer, and a spiritual director and retreat leader; she also leads the Interfaith Council of
Southwestern Connecticut

“Spa for the Spirit” is held the first Saturday of each month on the church’s peaceful
grounds in North Stamford, offering participants a chance to get away for a fewhours, to rest, recharge and be renewed in a quiet and restorative setting, just
1.5 miles north of the Merritt Parkway. Each retreat morning begins with
breakfast at 8:30 and ends by 12:30, with time for silence, walking, writing,
resting and reflection built in. All are welcome, from any or no religious
tradition. A suggested donation of $15-20 is asked, according to ability.
Reservations are requested - online here, or call 203-322-6991 or email office@christthehealerstamford.org.
