Integrative Medicine & Mental Health Issues

Dr. Katherine Takayasu from
Stamford Hospital’s Center for Integrative Medicine & Wellness speaks about
the uses and efficacy of integrative medicine practices for those with mental
health issues, and as stress management techniques for their families and loved
ones.

Evidence based and scientifically validated, the holistic
(whole-person) approach can be part of a coordinated therapeutic plan to treat
such conditions as anxiety, depression, and attention deficit/hyperactivity
disorder.

A board-certified family doctor, Dr. Takayasu will present

information about integrating complementary modalities—such as mind-body therapies,
physician-administered acupuncture, nutritional counseling, and botanical and supplement consulting—into a multidisciplinary
and effective treatment plan for mental health consumers. Mindfulness-based
stress reduction practices and hypnosis are among the techniques useful for

loved ones and care givers.
