Kick-Off Celebration for the Man & Woman of the Year Campaign

The Connecticut Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is hosting their Kick-Off Celebration on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the New Haven Lawn Club in New Haven to introduce their 2013 candidates for the Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY) fundraising campaign. Candidates will be competing for the title of Man & Woman of the Year and have agreed to utilize their leadership abilities to conduct their own fundraising campaigns for LLS. The candidates are judged solely on a philanthropic basis – on their success in generating funds for LLS during the (10) week period from the Kick-Off on February 26th through the Grand Finale on May 4th. Every dollar raised is counted as one vote. Candidates raise funds in honor of our Boy and Girl of the Year – local leukemia survivors. The male and female candidates with the most votes will be named the 2013 Man & Woman of the Year. Their totals will also be submitted for the national titles.

This year, the CT Chapter will celebrate its 11th MWOY Campaign. In the ten years of the Connecticut MWOY campaign, 86 Connecticut candidates have raised over $1.6 million to help find cures for blood cancers. The Man & Woman of the Year campaign is an extremely cost efficient fundraising event; approximately 86% of the money raised through the campaign goes directly back to our mission.

Best wishes to the individuals from Stamford who are competing for the titles of Man & Woman of the Year: David Kweskin, TJ White, Erica Zaky.
