Finding Feathers of Fairfield, located at 395 Commerce Street behind Tucker’s Restaurant, is hosting a party for the CD Release of “Suzanne Sheridan Sings Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen” on Saturday Jan. 12 from 7-9 PM. This is your invitation to join the party. The Suzanne Sheridan Band (Suzanne Sheridan, Bob Cooper, Ruth Ahlers, and Marshal Rosenberg) recorded this live CD at a concert on September 22, 2012. The band will be performing a few of the songs from the CD at the party.
The CD has received rave reviews. Rozanne Gates wrote, “Until I heard Suzanne Sheridan sing the music of these two Canadian artists, I hadn't really understood their brilliance. But Suzanne Sheridan brings out every nuance of the artistry in this music. And what a voice!! She can sing the music and the lyrics with more power and sensitivity than is imaginable. Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen are two of the greatest musical poets of our time. Ms. Sheridan, an award-winning singer-songwriter in her own right, commented, “For years I have been covering Joni’s songs in clubs and concerts. Then I read ‘Girls Like Us’ and found out that Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell had this passionate two-week love affair and I thought to myself, I have to bring them back together and the only way I can do that is musically.”

In the book, “Girls Like Us”, author Sheila Weller offers this observation, “Joni embarked upon a love affair with Leonard Cohen. Although their romance was short-lived, its influence was among the most important in her career. In fact, no brief relationship in Joni’s life produced as many songs – and so many of her better songs – as did her few-weeks-long-romance with Cohen.”
Joni Mitchell’s greatest hits include “Big Yellow Taxi,” “The Circle Game,” “A Case of You,” and “Chelsea Morning”. Cohen’s discography includes “Suzanne”, “Anthem”, “Like a Bird on a Wire”, and “Hallelujah”. All are covered on the CD in addition to many more.
