Chasing the Rose - a book about history of roses

Author Andrea diRobilant will show photographs and describe his quest to determine the origination of a silvery-pink rose that has been blooming on his family’s former estate in the Veneto area of Italy since the 19th Century. The adventure took him from the gardens of Josephine Bonaparte to the wilds of China ending in the gardens of the undisputed Rose Queen of Italy, Eleanora Garlant. Andrea will tell you about the history of the arrival of the Chinese rose in Europe and how he gained official recognition of the Rosa mocinego by registering it. This is event is free and open to the public. A suggested downation of $5.00 may be made to the Arboretum. Please RSVP to admin@bartlettarboretum.org with Chasing the Rose in the subject line.
