Sixteen Connecticut Contractors Recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy

Energize Connecticut congratulates contractors for exceptional work in helping customers to save money and energy in their homes.

Sixteen Connecticut Home Performance Contractors were recently recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE) as “Century Club Contractors” for their successful completion of more than one hundred Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® projects in 2011.  The sixteen contractors were part of a national group of just eighty-six contractors receiving Century Club recognition.

“The fact that a significant percentage of all home performance contractors recognized from around the nation were from Connecticut is further proof that our state is taking a leadership role on energy efficiency,” said Dan Esty, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).  “Governor Malloy has set a goal of making our state number one when it comes to energy efficiency – and the work of these contractors in assisting homeowners in addressing everything from insulation and leaky windows to heating and cooling systems will help us meet that target.”

Homes that go through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program are expected to be more comfortable, healthier and result in typical energy savings of 20 percent or more.  Connecticut has one of the largest Home Performance with ENERGY STAR programs in the country with almost 14,000 projects completed last year alone helping customers not only to save energy and money, but to have greater comfort in their homes.

The Century Club Award recognizes companies nationwide that have improved the energy efficiency of more than one hundred homes in the past year.  These contractors participate with the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program, which is sponsored locally by organizations such as utilities and government agencies.

Energize Connecticut is proud to be a national leader in the Home Performance program and continues to strive to deliver comprehensive energy services to residences throughout the state.  For more information, please visit www.EnergizeCT.com.
