EPA Recognizes CT Energy Efficiency Fund as 2013 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year

Fund honored for its work to increase market share of energy-efficient Home Performance with ENERGY STAR qualified homes through comprehensive outreach, education, and marketing programs.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that it will recognize the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, in partnership with the United Illuminating Company and Connecticut Light and Power, with a 2013 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for its outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by delivering energy efficiency information and services to its customers, as part of the Energize Connecticut initiative.  The Energy Efficiency Fund’s accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 26, 2013.

The Energy Efficiency Fund, an ENERGY STAR partner since 1999, is being honored for its work to increase market share of energy-efficient Home Performance with ENERGY STAR qualified homes through comprehensive outreach, education, and marketing programs.  Connecticut has one of the largest Home Performance with ENERGY STAR programs in the country with 14,687 projects completed in 2012 helping customers not only to save energy and money, but to have greater comfort in their homes.

“The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and its utility partners are committed to working in partnership with ENERGY STAR to help residents learn more about energy efficiency, as we move forward to make our state the nation’s leader in efficiency,” said Daniel C. Esty, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), who also serves as Chairman of the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Board.  “By using energy-efficient ENERGY STAR products and services, our customers can save energy and money while addressing climate change.”

The Energy Efficiency Fund’s dedication to improving home energy efficiency helps homeowners live more comfortably, save money on their utility bills and protect the environment by reducing their use of resources.  The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program also supports the advance of the home performance market, while measuring and tracking the progress associated with energy savings.

“The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund sets the bar for promoting energy-efficient products and services that help Americans learn how to save money and energy while protecting the environment,” said Bob Perciasepe, Acting Administrator, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. “The Fund’s program delivery methods demonstrate how communities across the nation can protect the climate through greater energy efficiency and provide a road map for future program implementers.”

Over the last 20 years, with help from ENERGY STAR, American families and businesses have saved more than $230 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 1.8 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

The ENERGY STAR 2013 Partner of the Year Award for Energy Efficiency Program Delivery is given to a variety of organizations in recognition of their efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce pollution. Award winners are selected from the nearly 20,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.
