Woman Attacked by Several Dogs in Stamford

The victim was bitten by one of the dogs while fleeing.

A woman walking along Noble Street was accosted by several small dogs and was bitten by one during the chase, according to Stamford Animal Care & Control Shelter officers.

The woman was chased by up to three "Schnauzer-type" dogs during her walk, and was bitten by one of them while fleeing about an inch below the knee.

Director Laurie Hollywood said the bite wasn't serious, but the woman did receive four small puncture wounds on her leg.

Officer Tilford Cobb said a notice has been posted in the area and that he will have to track down the dogs and conduct an on-site quarantine, since the bites occurred on the lot which the dogs live.

The victim told officers she wasn't sure the total number of dogs was three as it was dark out when she went to get her mail at the time of the incident, but believed that to be the case. Since officers can't be sure they've tracked down every dog involved in the incident, the woman will likely have to undergo a series of rabies vaccinations as a precaution.
