Vandals Rip Out Water Lines at Fairfield Park in OMG PD

Someone caused $1,000 worth of damage to a town-owned restroom facility at a Fairfield park this week. The person -- or persons -- ripped out supply lines to water fountains, among other acts of destruction.

A Sprint contractor reported grounding wires, copper plates and two 80-pound spools of wire stolen from a cell tower in Monroe. Though the value of the equipment is estimated at $1,500, the estimate the contractor gave for replacement and installation is closer to $10,000, according to police.

Westport police arrested a Bridgeport man who allegedly assaulted and strangled a nurse at a behavioral health hospital, according to an arrest report.

A man who reported to police Tuesday that his Stamford check cashing store had been robbed at gunpoint will likely face embezzlement charges in the case after police discovered the man was allegedly never actually robbed and had been siphoning upwards of $70,000 from the company over three months.

An 18-year-old New Canaan high school student called police when someone scratched a three-inch long mark into her brand-new Mercedes. It was the second call to police from the high school that week, as another student earlier reported the possible theft of his wallet.

A Norwalk man is accused of fondling himself in Lord & Taylor in Trumbull and then wiping his hands on nearly $500 in store merchandise. He was arrested after returning to the store several weeks later.

A Greenwich woman  is accused of driving while intoxicated after she tried to flee from Greenwich Police who were investigating a report of a woman banging on the front door of a Byram home.
