Stamford-based Drug Trafficker Sentenced to Federal Prison

The Connecticut district of the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Monday the sentencing of a former Stamford man to more than five years in federal prison for distributing cocaine.

According to Acting Attorney Deirdre M. Daly, 63-year-old Frank N. Potolicchio, of Monroe and formerly of Stamford, was sentenced to the forfeiture of $60,000 in drug money and 66 months in prison on Friday, July 19, followed by four years of supervised release.

Potolicchio confessed on April 1, 2013, to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distributing, cocaine following his arrest on April 28, 2011. The investigation leading up to his arrest pinpointed Potolicchio as the leader of a Stamford-based drug trafficking ring, Daly said, and revealed Potolicchio and co-conspirators would acquire cocaine in Florida and resell it in smaller quantities to Fairfield County customers.

According to authorities, more than 200 grams of cocaine, narcotics packaging material, a 9mm handgun and approximately $7,158 in cash were discovered in Potolicchio's Avery Street home during the serving of a warrant. Police also said they discovered records on his computer that revealed records of his cocaine sales and profits.
