Stamford Students Suspended for Attending Drinking Party

School officials reportedly said the suspensions are fair because of a school policy that forbids students from attending drinking parties on homecoming night, regardless of whether or not they actually consume alcohol.

More than 15 Stamford High School girls were reportedly suspended last week after school officials learned they had attended a drinking party on homecoming night, Nov. 23, that led to one of them being hospitalized.

According to a report in the Stamford Advocate, some parents are upset about the suspensions because, as they claim, not all of the girls who attended the party consumed alcohol. However school officials have reportedly said the suspensions are fair because of a school policy that forbid students from attending drinking parties on homecoming night, regardless of whether or not they actually consume alcohol.

One of the girls who attended the party reportedly had to be transported to the hospital for possible alcohol poisoning, however published reports do not detail the circumstances by which police were made aware of the situation, nor do they mention any arrests as a result of the party.
