Stamford Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Coke Distribution Case

The 61-year-old man was sentenced for purchasing cocaine in bulk from a Florida supplier and then reselling it in Fairfield County.

A 61-year-old Stamford man was sentenced Thursday to five years in federal prison for his role in a cocaine distribution ring, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut.

On Friday, it was announced Elliot Chiappetta was sentenced to 60 months in a federal prison followed by five years supervised released for his role in a drug-trafficking ring based in Stamford in 2009 and 2010.

Through wiretaps and surveillance, authorities said they were able to ascertain that Chiappetta and his co-conspirators would acquire cocaine and sell it in smaller quantities to Fairfield County customers.

Chiappetta was convicted of traveling with a co-conspirator to southern Florida in April 2010 to obtain a kilogram of cocaine from their source of supply.

Chiappetta pleaded guilty on January 28, 2013, to one count conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, 500 grams or more of cocaine, according to the Attorney's Office.

Chiappetta has a criminal history that includes state felony convictions in 1992 for sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics, and a federal conviction in 2004 for conspiring to conduct an illegal gambling business.
