Stamford Man Sentenced to 18 Months for Mortgage Fraud

The sentence handed down by United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in U.S. District Court in New Haven also requires Tudorof to pay $2,099,400 in restitution, the release states.

Christian Tudorof, 43, of Stamford was sentenced yesterday to 18 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, , according to a press release from U.S. Attorney David B. Fein.

The sentence handed down by United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in U.S. District Court in New Haven also requires Tudorof to pay $2,099,400 in restitution, the release states.

Tudorof reportedly provided false information or failed to disclose information when he submitted loan applications to several different lenders for the purchase of properties in Florida, Arizona and Connecticut between December 2006 and March 2007.

He managed to secure more than $4 million through the loans and purchased six properties, according to the release. The mortgage lenders reportedly suffered losses of more than $2 million, and the homes have been foreclosed.

As reported on , Tudoroff pleaded guilty on July 11 to one count of wire fraud.

In one instance Tudoroff obtained a mortgage to purchase a home in Florida, but deliberately failed to disclose the existence of the mortgage when he applied for mortgages on the other properties purchased in his name, the release states.

“He also falsely represented in the mortgage applications that he intended to live in some of the homes that he intended to purchase when, in fact, he had no intention of occupying these homes,” the release states.
