Report: Stamford Man Tried to Board Plane With Loaded Handgun

Michael Parrotta, 25, and his girlfriend were scheduled for a 9 a.m. American Airlines flight to Cancun when TSA screeners spotted a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol in his backpack, according to a report in the New York Post.

 

A Stamford man was reportedly arrested at JFK Airport Monday after he attempted to board a plane with a loaded handgun in his carry-on luggage.

According to a report in the New York Post, Michael Parrotta, 25, and his girlfriend were scheduled for a 9 a.m. American Airlines flight to Cancun when TSA screeners spotted a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol in his backpack.

The weapon reportedly had one round in its chamber and up to seven more in the magazine, the report states.

Parrotta reportedly told Port Authority cops that he has a carry permit for Connecticut. However he was apparently unaware that transporting firearms across state lines and bringing them on airplanes are both big no-nos.

Parrotta was taken to Queens Central Booking for arraignment, according to the report.
