Plea Agreement in the Works For Stamford Man Who Shot Officer

Providing the court accepts the plea agreement, Ephraim Goitom, also known as "Fay Fay," — who has been held on bond since his arrest in Dec. 2010 — will serve 25 years in prison.

A man who has reportedly agreed to serve 25 years in prison as per a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.

As per a release issued by David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Ephraim Goitom, also known as “Fay Fay,” 29, of Stamford, on April 16 pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute phencyclidine (“PCP”), and one count of use of a firearm in relation to a narcotics trafficking offense.

Providing the court accepts the plea agreement, Goitom — — will serve 25 years in prison, according to the release.

As reported on , Stamford Police on Dec. 9, 2010 responded to a report of shots fired near Goitom’s former residence on Lockwood Avenue. Through their investigation they learned Goitom had had a fight with an acquaintance, David Paul, at his residence earlier that morning, and that Goitom had fired a single round from his handgun at Paul as he was leaving, but missed.

Police obtained a warrant to search Goitom’s residence, but on arrival he fired his .357 magnum through the backdoor, striking Sergeant Richard Gasparino in the face and neck, according to the release. Sergeant Gasparino survived but suffered permanent scarring on his face and neck.

During the search of Goitom's residence police found PCP packaged for sale, a digital scale, narcotics packaging paraphernalia, a .357 revolver containing two spent casings and four live rounds, and a box of .357 ammunition, the release states. The gun was determined to have been stolen in 1997 from a residence in Alabama.

Following his arrest Goitom reportedly contended that he — that he thought a man who had broken into his home and attacked his sister earlier that day was returning to possibly inflict further harm.
