Norwalk Man Charged in Stamford Gunpoint Robbery

A 23-year-old Norwalk man has been charged with first-degree robbery in connection to an armed holdup that occurred in Stamford earlier in the month, police said Tuesday.

According to Capt. Richard Conklin, James T. Lewis, of Westport Avenue, was indicted in the incident after the Star Market clerk he allegedly held at gunpoint on July 8 was able to ID Lewis in a photo lineup.

The Star Market on Broad Street was the site of two recent armed robberies, both involving a pair of men holding up the store at gunpoint. Both incidents remain under investigation, with the second occurring about a week after the first.

Conklin said, so far, Lewis has only been charged in the first incident. Lewis was arrested Monday night at approximately 7:46 p.m. He was charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and held on a $50,000 bond. A court date of August 8 was issued.
