Fire and emergency officials are on the scene of a multi-car accident on the Merritt Parkway that has closed down the roadway between exits 52 and 53.
According to Fire Marshal Brian Lampart, the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. and involves three to five vehicles, one of which might have rolled over.
Lampart also said there were reports that a patient was lying on the roadway.
's Engine 2 and 4 are responding, as well as an ambulance from Trumbull's department, Lampart said.
Additionally, a 25-gallon fuel tank reportedly ruptured and the leak can not be stopped. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has been requested to respond to the scene.
