If Your Family Lived in Stamford in the 40s, You're Probably Italian

An interesting look at the history and heritage of settlements from the Connecticut Interracial Commission.

According to this map from the Connecticut Interracial Commission, if your family has roots in Stamford dating back to 1940, you're probably Italian. The map was uploaded to popular social news aggregation site Reddit.com on it's subreddit r/Connecticut on Sunday morning, March 24.

It's certainly shows how diverse Connecticut is and gives a neat overview of the state's dominant "foreign-born" ancestry per town or city.

Later that same day, Reddit user dimensionalvertigo uploaded an updated map using information he said he compiled from "the American Community Survey 5-year estimates, using the Ancestry, Hispanic or Latino Origin by Specific Origin, and Race datasets to provide a full spectrum of information on diversity in Connecticut towns."
