Conviction Reinstated For Former Stamford Teacher

Former Stamford resident Tricia Coccomo, a former second-grade teacher at Rogers Magnet School, was convicted in 2007 for causing the crash on High Ridge Road, which killed three people in another car.

The Connecticut Supreme Court has reportedly reinstated former Stamford resident Tricia Coccomo's conviction and 12-year prison sentence on vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving charges in connection with a motor vehicle accident she caused on High Ridge Road in 2005.

Coccomo, a former second-grade teacher at , was convicted in 2007 for causing the head-on crash, which killed three people in another car. In 2009 the state Appellate Court overturned the trial court’s decision on the basis that the trial judge improperly allowed evidence showing that Coccomo transferred her half-ownership of her Stamford home to her mother for $1 several days after the accident, according to an AP report in the Hartford Courant.

However on Thursday, in a rare 4-3 split decision, the CT Supreme Court overturned the Appellate Court’s 2009 decision, the report states, meaning that Coccomo, who had been free on appellate bond for the past two years, must return to prison.
