Construction Worker Killed At Chelsea Piers

Construction worker Javier Salinas died on Tuesday afternoon, having fallen 60 feet from the Chelsea Piers roof.

Amidst Tuesday's welcome news of NBC Sports' to Stamford and the possible creation of 450 new jobs in the city, tragedy occured near Stamford's former Clairol site.

According to News 8 Online, Javier Salinas, a construction worker in his 30's, was killed as the result of a 60-foot fall from the roof at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Salinas, who was working on the roof, hit the pavement and died on the scene. OSHA is investigating the work-related death, and it is believed that gusty winds may have played in a factor in his death.
