Cashman to Once Again Rappel Down Landmark Building

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman took a practice run rappelling down the 300-foot Landmark Square building on Friday.

As Stamford resident Bobby Valentine soaks up publicity about his new position as , Yankees general manager and Darien resident Brian Cashman is getting up his nerve for when he rappels down the 22 story Landmark Square building for this year’s Heights and Lights festivities, to be held at 5 p.m. this Sunday, Dec. 4.

According to a report in the Stamford Advocate, Cashman took a practice run bounding down the 300-foot building using ropes on Friday. Cashman, who admits his fear of heights, told the Advocate he wasn’t as afraid this time around, compared to when .

“I didn’t look down,” he said in the report.

Cashman will be playing the role of one of several elves who will be rappelling down the building, along with Santa Claus, who will be performing stunts as he makes his descent.

The free event, which includes a tree lighting ceremony and many other festivities, is being presented by the City of Stamford and Stamford Downtown Special Services District.

According to the Stamford Advocate report, Fox News Meteorologist Rick Reichmuth also took a practice run rappelling down the building Friday.
