Borders Boarding Up In Connecticut

Borders, the once-popular bookstore chain that closed its doors in Stamford, will be gone from state entirely by the end of September.

Stamford's Borders closed its doors in May, and by September 30, Borders will vanish from the state altogether, according to a consumer advisory report.

"Borders Group will begin going-out-of-business sales in its remaining stores in Connecticut on Friday and conclude them on or before Sept. 30," CT Attorney General George Jepsen said in a press release.

, located at 1041 High Ridge Road until it closed in May, was one of eight CT Borders stores to close this year. In March, Stamford's Borders was only one of 28 Borders stores to close nationwide.

"I’m sorry that Borders could not find a buyer, which made it necessary to close its remaining stores,” Jepsen said in a press release. “My office will be monitoring the sales to make sure the interests of Connecticut consumers are protected.”
