"Dance, Dance, Dance," the Autumn 2013 Showcase

The Metropolitan Dance Center does two dance showcases a year, one in the spring, and one in the fall. This gives the students a chance to use what they’ve learned, and turn it into a moment of spectacle. The challenge of learning a routine, dancing to a nice piece of music, and performing in front of an audience, are a few of the things that our students look forward to.

Of course the teachers play a vital role as well, developing choreographies and making sure that the students enjoy every minute of the whole experience.

The next big studio event will be the “Dance, Dance, Dance” Autumn 2013 Showcase, set on a theme, “Dancing to the music that inspires you.” It will definitely be a night of fun and heartwarming performances, with the students choosing their own personal favorite, for their music.

Studio owner and 2007 World American Smooth Showdance Champion Steven Dougherty, is the master of choreography, while co-owner John De Palma, known as the voice of Ballroom, will be the master of ceremonies, as well as the program and social director.

What’s great about showcases is that even those who are not performing get to enjoy an evening of dinner, a show, and social dancing. Last April’s “A Night at the Oscars,” Spring Showcase was a huge success, with over 100 guests in attendance. Students danced to popular soundtracks from both old and current Hollywood hits. The autumn showcase will be on October 18, 2013 at the Italian Center.
