Act on Your Olympic Inspiration

Adults, like children will be inspired watching the Games. It's never to late to rediscover your passion and enjoy team sports again.

By Dave Flower

Once every four years, the Summer Olympics roll around and people are inspired and touched at what these amazing athletes can achieve.

Don’t let the inspiration of the Olympic Games pass you by. Take this moment to rediscover a sport that you fell in love with as a child. For me, that passion is soccer. Even though I am rapidly aging I still feel like an 11 year old when I think about heading into a game. I still have the same nerves and want to feel the same adrenaline pumping when you go past a defender or get up to head a ball and there is no better feeling than the few times you actually get it right and strike a ball well enough to beat a goal keeper.

I cannot compete at the same level as used to but I still love to play in any game of soccer. Running around the field, chasing the ball, cheering on my teammates still gets my blood pumping – and, more importantly these days, it is a great work out. There is no substitute for the fun of being part of a team.

Take your cut from the Summer Games and get motivated! Grab some co-workers, reconnect with college or high school buddies and commit to an adult league. The multi-week schedule and companionship will get you going and before you know it, you’ll be striving to take your team to the playoffs.
