Injured Bird Loose in Stamford CVS for 3 Days Caught

A sparrow was trapped in the Hope Street CVS for several days before authorities were finally able to trap the bird once it injured itself, Stamford Animal Care & Control officers said this week.

According to Director Laurie Hollywood, the office received a call on Monday, Dec. 16, about a sparrow trapped in the store's pharmacy department at 1050 Hope Street.

Hollywood said that, while the office doesn't normally handle wildlife calls, they had to intervene after three days, when the sparrow was suffering from lack of food and became injured.

Officer Stendhal Jean-Louis responded and said he was lucky enough to corral the bird in the back office and into a case used to house perfumes and cornered him. He was able to trap the bird in the case and he and store employees moved the bird outside and released it.
