Young Mariners Foundation Launches Kayak Rentals Program

With the help of Downunder of Westport and Norwalk, Stamford-based YMF plans to soon add stand up paddleboard rentals as well, according to a press release on the group's website.

nonprofit Young Mariners Foundation has reportedly launched a recreational kayak-rental program out of Boccuzzi Park at 196 Southfield Ave. to help fund its after-school and summer sailing programs.

Starting this weekend people can rent kayaks from the organization — starting at $25 an hour — and get a unique perspective on Stamford Harbor, according to a .

"We've already started teaching kids how to sail, and this new venture is for the community," Young Mariners Foundation Chairman Paul Norton told the Stamford Advocate.

With the help of /Norwalk, the YMF plans to soon add stand up paddleboard rentals as well, according to a press release on the group's website.

To help keep kayakers safe in the busy harbor they will be restricted to the area off Boccuzzi Park, according to the Stamford Advocate report.

All rentals launch from Boccuzzi Park at 196 Southfield Ave. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
