Stamford Unemployment Rises with Rest of CT

The unemployment rate rises statewide and locally.

July jobs figures showed a rise in unemployment throughout Connecticut, and Stamford was not spared in the bad news. The town has the highest unemployment all year.

“The phrase ‘worst economic downturn since the Great Depression’ is used so often, we’ve become immune to the words. But they’re true.  So, it should come as a surprise to no one that pulling the country and our state out of that downturn is hard. Really hard,” said . “But let me be clear: we are making progress, and I have every confidence we’ll continue to make progress.”

In Connecticut, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 8.5 percent and the national rate is 8.3 percent.

It's rather amusing that with Malloy's recently passed package of new taxes and fees that place a greater burden on CT residents and businesses, he's saying he has every confidence that we'll make progress on the unemployment front. CT has been one of the leading states in a number of categories, including businesses leaving the state for "greener pastures" and in the category of residents leaving the state for a better economic climate, compared to those moving into the state. It's time to cut state spending and reduce the taxes and regulation on business, so that more jobs will be created in our state and people will actually want to live here.

@Ed....I'd like to take your suggestion a step further to recommend the ending of this ridiculous class war that has been started by some political groups in this country.
