Stamford Downtown Unveils New Slogan, Campaign

Stamford Downtown, which is responsible for creating, managing and promoting downtown business, has reportedly begun installing its new street pole banners — with the tagline, "This is the Place!" — on lampposts throughout downtown.

First it was “” Then it was “.” Now, could become known for yet another "catchy" slogan: “This is the Place!”

, which is responsible for creating, managing and promoting downtown business, as well as organizing major city events such as , has reportedly begun installing its new street pole banners — with the new tagline, “This is the Place!” — on lampposts throughout downtown.

The illustrated, full-color banners, created by Mike Lombardo and Nancy Anderson of Creative Insight, will be displayed for the next three years, according to a press release. The new slogan and artwork will also be incorporated into Stamford Downtown’s advertising and other marketing media.

The new banners and tagline — which “depict key attributes of a thriving Stamford Downtown” — were developed in early 2011 by a marketing committee comprised of executives from local corporations and city officials.

Stamford Downtown reportedly sent out RFPs to 46 local and regional design firms for development of the new campaign. Nine firms responded. The marketing committee then narrowed it down to two finalists, Creative Insight and The Silverman Group. The committee finally selected Creative Insight, which created the previous 3-year banner campaign.

The release does not state how much it cost to develop the campaign or how it was funded.
