LiveClips, with offices at 281 Tresser Boulevard, is a fast-growing start-up and CT Innovations company that received $2.15 million in investments over the past three months.

Stamford-based LiveClips, which makes technology that allows sports fans to view short, play-by-play video clips of live sporting events in near-real time on their Web-enabled mobile devices, has reportedly reached an agreement with Encompass Digital Media to host its service offerings.

LiveClips, with offices at 281 Tresser Boulevard, is a fast-growing start-up and CT Innovations company that received $2.15 million in investments over the past three months, as per a company press release.

With LiveClips, sports fans have the ability to ingest just the action from “live” sports broadcasts at their convenience and desired pace. Customers can program which sporting events they want to see “live clips” from on their Internet-enabled phones. The hosted clips are edited to show only the play action.

"LiveClips has grown five-fold in the past year and is continuing to expand in size and reach," said Lewis Bakes, CEO of LiveClips and a resident of New Canaan. "The time had come to select a company to host our services, and we are fortunate to work with Encompass, a world-class company with a global footprint and facilities right in Stamford, making our partnership all the more convenient."

The company’s field-tested technology has reportedly been used by Major League Baseball, as well as by ESPN for NCAA college football and the FIFA World Cup. It reportedly works with broadcasters in securing the rights to deliver the content. (The release does not state whether the service is advertising or subscription based.)

In a recent interview with the Stamford Advocate, Jack Loop, LiveClips’ vice president of sales and marketing, who also resides in New Canaan, said he and Bakes are pitching the service to the NFL. He pointed out that about 30 to 35 million people play fantasy football and that the service will be ideally suited to their needs.

Bakes also told the Advocate that the fast-growing company "is currently working to finalize contracts to deliver our service offering for soccer, golf, football, baseball and basketball in 2012 and 2013.”
