Heading To The Beach In Stamford? Visit Brennan's While You're There!

If you're heading to the beach in Stamford this summer, or just driving around looking for somewhere you've maybe never been before, then head to Brennan's when your tummy's grumbling or you need a drink to cool off.

Tucked away among residential houses, the little shack with a boat sticking out the front of it is located at 82 Iroquois Road, right at the corner of Algonquin Avenue and just over the dunes at Stamford's Long Island Sound beach.

Formerly a speak-easy during prohibition, the bar has been known The Huddle when it was owned by a professional football player, the Catch 22 when it was home to the Hurricane Harry jazz band.

These days, Eamir O'Neill has taken the reigns from the Brennan's, who are still involved in the operations of the bar. She's been working at the location for the last nine years.

"I took over about eight months ago," O'Neill said. "We get a lot of business people from Harbor Point visit, and in the nighttime we see a lot of neighborhood people with kids, who often want to come visit Oscar the Turtle, out mascot, more than they want to come see me."

O'Neill said, in the winter months, it's a local haunt, but with summer, business should be booming soon as it turns into a beach club hangout.

If you plan on heading down, be sure to give yourself a little extra time to find parking. O'Neill said the city's been spamming the area roads with No Parking signs in recent months. There's still plenty of parking on the surrounding neighborhood roads. And after you finish up your drink, the beach is just a short walk away.
