Fleur De Lis: Redding's Antiquing Treasure

Dottie DeLuca, who was a Rockette for seven years, opened up an antique shop in West Redding in November.

Even when she was a dancer working on Broadway and working as a Rockette, Dottie DeLuca said she always had an eye for antiques, buying items she found intriguing and selling them for profit to supplement her income while she made a living as an artist.

Now retired from the stage, DeLuca, a resident who grew up in Wilton, started doing something professionally she’d been doing on the side for two decades. In November, DeLuca opened Fleur De Lis, an antique store specializing in furniture, décor and art. The store is located at 4 Long Ridge Road in West Redding.

“I always collected while I was dancing professionally,” DeLuca told Patch, adding she was a Rockette from 1989 to 1996. “It’s kind of just second nature to me. I decided to start a business when we bought the building last year, I decided to do this professionally.”

DeLuca said her store offers everything from traditional antiques to “mid-century modern, funky stuff from the 1960s.”

“We sell a lot of furniture and artwork, mirrors and lighting,” she said. “We’ve got a lot of chandeliers and lamps and decorative accessories to go with that kind of stuff.”

The store also offers gift items and vintage jewelry, she added.

DeLuca said her prized piece is a “beautiful Knoll mid-century tufted-sofa.”

“It’s a fabulous mid-century piece, probably from the 1960s,” she said.

DeLuca said she’s got a great eye for antiques and attends tag sales, estate sales and flea markets to find items. She said something will catch her eye and she’ll buy it sometimes even if she has no idea what it's worth.

“You can’t know everything,” she said. “There’s so much to know.”

Fleur De Lis is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. DeLuca also said she’ll meet customers by appointment. She also ships items, and what she has for sale can be seen on her website.

DeLuca lives with her husband of 28 years, Anthony, and their nine-year-old son Austin in Redding.
