Shots Fired in Stamford's South End

Updated, 5:35 p.m.

According to multiple witnesses, shots rang out in front of Moran's Deli and just across the street from the Lathon Wider Community Center Thursday afternoon, Stamford Police Chief Jon Fontneau said on the scene.

According to Fontneau, a man walking along Henry Street had just crossed over Pacific Street when the suspect stepped out from between two vans parked along the road and fired off two rounds.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn said the suspect pulled up and began firing at the victim after crossing the street. The victim was described as a black male with dreadlocks; the suspect was said to be the light-skinned passenger of the gold-colored foreign-model car. The suspect was said to be using a revolver.

"We're lucky no one was hurt," Hohn said. "This was an area with heavy pedestrian traffic."

Fontneau said, though multiple witnesses reported the incident, they had not recovered any physical evidence at the scene. No bullet casings were found, there was no blood and, so far, no gunshot wounds reported at any of the area hospitals.

Police continue to investigate.
