Stamford Symphony Announces a 'Real Blockbuster' 2014-15 Season

Stamford Symphony Music Director, Eckart Preu and CEO and President, Barbara Soroca announce the 2014-2015 Program filled with a fantastic roster of soloists and music that is both accessible and interesting. Eckart Preu describes the new season as a “Real blockbuster – something to be proud of, with exceptional soloists and a musical program touched with an extra bit of inspiration”

Stamford Symphony continues into its 47th year sustaining its mission to build lifelong appreciation of classical music through high caliber, passionate and professional performance experiences. This upcoming season will be no exception.

Opening night, Stamford Symphony will feature one of the premier cellists of the world, Zuill Bailey. He will perform Dvorak’s Cello Concerto. The series continues with the only violinist to win gold medals at all three highly prestigious violin competitions: Ilya Kaler. The star soloist won first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Sibelius Competition and the Paganini Competition. The Symphony welcomes back international pianist, cultural blogger and composer, Steven Hough. The Greenwich Choral Society will return to enchant concert-goers into the mysteries of the Mozart Requiem. And the final soloist of the season is the emotionally interpretative pianist, Helene Grimaud. At just age 13, she was accepted into the Paris Conservatoire and became one of the most celebrated pianists of our time.
